Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-serving monarch in British history and an icon instantly recognisable to billions of people around the world, has died aged 96, Buckingham Palace announced on Thursday.


The eldest of her four children, Charles, Prince of Wales, who at 73 is the oldest heir apparent in British history, becomes king immediately.

The queen’s death came after the palace announced on Thursday that doctors were “concerned” for her health and recommended she stayed under medical supervision.

All her children — Charles, Princess Anne, 72, Prince Andrew, 62, and Prince Edward, 58, flocked to her Scottish Highland retreat, Balmoral.

They were joined by Charles’s sons, Prince William, and his estranged brother Prince Harry.

The White Witches Association of Nigeria, WWAN, has cautioned Vice President Yemi Osinbajo against running for the Presidency in 2023. WWAN said God did not program Osinbajo to become Nigeria’s President in 2023; hence he would not win if he decided to contest. The spokesman of the witches and the former board member of the Edo State Traditional Council during the administration of former Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Dr Iboi Okhue, said God sent Osinbajo for a particular mission. Okhue disclosed that Osinbajo would conclude the mission God sent him on May 29, 2023.

ASUU strike: Nwajiuba says FG working on alternative funding structure for universities The Nigerian government is currently working on proposals it can use to resolve the ASUU strike, including a new scheme in which universities implement a different way of earning funds. This was disclosed by Emeka Nwajiuba, former Minister of State for Education and a presidential aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in an  interview  with Channels TV on Sunday. He stated that the implementation of alternative funding structures is a necessity for university autonomy. What the former minister is saying Nwajiuba apologised to Nigerian students for the continued strike, taking responsibility as their minister. “On behalf of the FG, we want issues to be understood. We have had nearly 15 strikes in 20 years. At the 2023 Oscars, Nigerian female artistes were dressed to impress. From the red carpet to the stage, they were dressed in stunning and glamorous ensembles that were sure to turn heads. Many of the artistes opted for traditional Nigerian styles, such as the Iro and Buba, which is a two-piece outfit consisting of a blouse and wrapper. Others wore modern and contemporary designs, such as jumpsuits, gowns, and ruffled dresses. Many of the outfits featured vibrant colors and intricate designs, such as beading and embroidery.
