The glycaemic index is the value assigned to a food depending on how quickly it releases glucose (sugar) into the bloodstream. The currency of energy in the blood is glucose. APC cancels NEC meeting

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cancelled the proposed emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 17. The decision to cancel the meeting may not be unconnected to the  letter written by President Muhammadu Buhari , which directed Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni to return as the chairman of the caretaker committee. Recall that the acting chairman of the Caretaker Committee and the Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Bello, had summoned the emergency meeting. The emergency meeting was supposed to ratify decisions taken in respect of the forthcoming national convention of the party. The National Secretary of the party, Sen. John Akpanudoedehe, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday. Police rescue ‘kidnappers’ from jungle justice in Oyo

The Police Command in Oyo State has rescued two suspects, who allegedly attempted to kidnap a 9-year-old girl. The command made this known in a statement by its spokesman, Adewale Osifeso, on Monday in Ibadan. Osifeso said that the command’s operatives who were on patrol on Sunday, around Alakia Adelubi axis, Ibadan, at about 9.20 a.m. responded to a distress call on the “execution of jungle justice”. The suspects were alleged to have attempted to abduct a 9-year-old female, “Ope”, who was on her way to church. He said that preliminary investigations revealed that the girl was in the company of her mother, one Afolabi Modupe, and other siblings when the two suspects attempted to seize her from her mother’s grip. The Boeing 737 plane crashed in the rural countryside near Wuzhou city, Guangxi region, and “caused a mountain fire”, CCTV said, citing the provincial emergency management bureau. The report added that rescue teams were dispatched to the scene. CCTV said a “China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737 plane carrying 133 people has crashed in Teng county, Wuzhou, Guangxi, and caused a mountain fire.”

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has finally arrested Rochas Okorocha, an All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential aspirant. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), today charged Nigerians to rise to the occasionand join hands to stop the elected leaders bent on destroying public universities and squandering Nigeria’s wealth. This also came as the academic union called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on the poor condition of public universities in order to rescue the sector from outright collapse. The University of Ibadan Chairperson of ASUU, Prof. Ayoola Akinwole, stated this Wednesday, during a press conference held at the Large Lecture Theatre, Faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan.
