Leadership of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) led by its’ President, Biodun Ogunyemi Chief Obafemi Jeremiah Oyeniyi Awolowo (1909 – 1987) was Premier of the Western Region from 1952 to1959, seven years in total, yet the profound influence he has on Nigerian education lingers on from the 20th to the 21st Century. Perhaps it would be there forever, nobody can say. Therefore, it is possible for a thoughtful policy to influence any aspect of society. So with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). It does not matter if the policy was followed or not, by future governments or institutions. In the case of ASUU, it was not followed. Witches warn Osinbajo against contesting for Presidency

The White Witches Association of Nigeria, WWAN, has cautioned Vice President Yemi Osinbajo against running for the Presidency in 2023. WWAN said God did not program Osinbajo to become Nigeria’s President in 2023; hence he would not win if he decided to contest. The spokesman of the witches and the former board member of the Edo State Traditional Council during the administration of former Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Dr Iboi Okhue, said God sent Osinbajo for a particular mission. Okhue disclosed that Osinbajo would conclude the mission God sent him on May 29, 2023.

ASUU declares indefinite strike, plans increased media engagement

ASUU President, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke The Academic Staff Union of Universities has declared a total and indefinite strike. The decision was taken at a meeting of the union’s National Executive Council held on Sunday in Abuja. The PUNCH  reports that the union started its ongoing strike on February 14, 2022. The strike is in protest against the government’s failure to release revitalisation funds for universities, failure to release the white paper report of the visitation panel to universities and the failure to deploy the University Transparency Accountability System for the payment of salaries and allowances of lecturers. The union’s President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, disclosed the outcome of the NEC meeting in a statement on Monday titled, ‘ASUU strikes are to save public universities.’ In the statement, Osodeke said the NEC regretted that the union had experienced deceit of the highest level for over five years, adding that the government engaged ASUU in fruitless and unending ...

The Boeing 737 plane crashed in the rural countryside near Wuzhou city, Guangxi region, and “caused a mountain fire”, CCTV said, citing the provincial emergency management bureau. The report added that rescue teams were dispatched to the scene. CCTV said a “China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737 plane carrying 133 people has crashed in Teng county, Wuzhou, Guangxi, and caused a mountain fire.”
