At the 2023 Oscars, Nigerian female artistes were dressed to impress. From the red carpet to the stage, they were dressed in stunning and glamorous ensembles that were sure to turn heads. Many of the artistes opted for traditional Nigerian styles, such as the Iro and Buba, which is a two-piece outfit consisting of a blouse and wrapper. Others wore modern and contemporary designs, such as jumpsuits, gowns, and ruffled dresses. Many of the outfits
featured vibrant colors and intricate designs, such as beading and embroidery. The artistes also accessorized their looks with statement jewelry and headpieces. All in all, the Nigerian female artistes at the 2023 Oscars looked absolutely stunning and made a powerful statement about the beauty and culture of Nigeria.

The White Witches Association of Nigeria, WWAN, has cautioned Vice President Yemi Osinbajo against running for the Presidency in 2023. WWAN said God did not program Osinbajo to become Nigeria’s President in 2023; hence he would not win if he decided to contest. This appeal formed part of the message of Faith Nwadishi, the Executive Director of the Center for Transparency Advocacy, (CTA) at a training session for election observers in Osogbo on Thursday. Nwadishi, who pointed out that observers need not be biased, submitted that any observer with an affiliation to political parties could not be objective, but would make reports in favour of the party they belonged to. The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Wednesday, lamented that its leader, Nnamdi Kanu was passing through unimaginable torture in detention. IPOB claimed that the Nigerian government, through the Department of State Services, DSS, had subjected Kanu to torture and humiliation since his rendition from Kenya. Emma Powerful, spokesman of the group, lamented that the DSS had refused Kanu from changing clothes. A statement by Powerful urged the United Nations, UN, and the Human Rights Watch to prevail on the Nigerian government to release Kanu, unconditionally. Warmer autumns could spell bad news for butterflies, suggests study

Credit: Unsplash/CC0 Public Domain New research finds that longer and warmer autumns make it less likely that green-veined white butterflies will survive winter to emerge in spring. The findings are published in the British Ecological Society journal,  Functional Ecology . warmer and longer autumn conditions lost more weight and used more energy than those exposed to milder conditions. Although the butterflies didn't die immediately under the more elevated conditions, the researchers found that those that experienced them were less likely to survive to adulthood the following spring. Dr. Matthew Nielsen at the University of Oulu, who conducted the research at Stockholm University, said: "Climate change is making autumns warmer and last longer, and it was this specific combination of conditions that had the greatest impact on the butterflies in our study. One of the Nigerian top gospel singers, Tim Godfrey, has revealed the name of his fiancée, who accepted his proposal on Valentine’s Day. Tim shared pictures of himself and his wife-to-be, identified as Erica, on his Instagram page on Thursday. During the  engagement  announcement last month, the father-of-one had shared pictures of the proposal, where he concealed the face and identity of his future bride. In his latest post, the singer tagged her Instagram handle and shared photos of them in matching outfits.
