hit a low point a few years ago,” Shawn Mendes admits, his brow furrowing beneath his shaggy curls.

The sun is setting over a Santa Monica, Calif., apartment complex, and Mendes is leaning forward from his seat as he explains a recent major life change: his embrace of spirituality. It started with meditation to bring a little balance to his chaotic life of pop stardom. That turned into reading religious texts, which turned into a deep dive on the Bhakti movement in Hinduism. For nearly a year, Mendes has spent every Thursday meditating and discussing scriptures like the Bhagavad Gita with Jay Shetty, the author of Think Like a Monk.

“I think everybody has a moment where they just decide it’s time to kind of do something different,” says Mendes matter-of-factly. Now spirituality is “a part of my life that is much bigger than I actually even let on.”

Witches warn Osinbajo against contesting for Presidency

The White Witches Association of Nigeria, WWAN, has cautioned Vice President Yemi Osinbajo against running for the Presidency in 2023. WWAN said God did not program Osinbajo to become Nigeria’s President in 2023; hence he would not win if he decided to contest. The spokesman of the witches and the former board member of the Edo State Traditional Council during the administration of former Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Dr Iboi Okhue, said God sent Osinbajo for a particular mission. Okhue disclosed that Osinbajo would conclude the mission God sent him on May 29, 2023.

ASUU strike: Nwajiuba says FG working on alternative funding structure for universities The Nigerian government is currently working on proposals it can use to resolve the ASUU strike, including a new scheme in which universities implement a different way of earning funds. This was disclosed by Emeka Nwajiuba, former Minister of State for Education and a presidential aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in an  interview  with Channels TV on Sunday. He stated that the implementation of alternative funding structures is a necessity for university autonomy. What the former minister is saying Nwajiuba apologised to Nigerian students for the continued strike, taking responsibility as their minister. “On behalf of the FG, we want issues to be understood. We have had nearly 15 strikes in 20 years. At the 2023 Oscars, Nigerian female artistes were dressed to impress. From the red carpet to the stage, they were dressed in stunning and glamorous ensembles that were sure to turn heads. Many of the artistes opted for traditional Nigerian styles, such as the Iro and Buba, which is a two-piece outfit consisting of a blouse and wrapper.
