Things That Happen To Your Vagina As You Age

Your female private organ ages just like the rest of your body. As you approach menopause, the components of your body change in appearance and functionality. During this period of life, problems with dryness, drooping, and a lack of lubrication exist. Although the effects on your s£x life and restroom habits may not be favorable, these changes are natural.

According to WebMD, here are 5 things that happen to female's private parts as they age:

1. It's pretty dry

The estrogen hormone maintains the healthy plumpness and moisture of the female private part tissues. These delicate tissues are left high and dry as estrogen levels decline around menopause. One of the more uncomfortable signs of menopause is dryness. It may make having s£x painful or uncomfortable. Reduce friction by using a lubricant with a water basis.

2. There is less hair in the region

Your hair grows for a while before falling out according to natural cycles. Your hair's growth cycle shortens as you age. In addition, as estrogen levels fall, testosterone takes over as the main hormone in your body. Hair loss is fueled by testosterone. You'll notice spots of thinning when more hair falls out than your body can repair. Both your scalp and your lower body experience it.

3. There's drooping

Your uterus, bladder, rectum, and the top of your private part are all supported by the muscles in your pelvic floor, which function like slings. These muscles become weakened during pregnancy and menopause, which might cause your pelvic organs to droop. It's known as prolapse. Occasionally, an organ will completely enter the private part and enlarge it. Your pelvic organs can be raised and prolapse treated with devices and medical treatments.

4. It shrinks

The once-stretchy tissues of your private part become thinner and less elastic as a result of the loss of estrogen that occurs around menopause. It's clearly "use it or lose it" in this situation. Your private part may become shorter and narrower if you don't have s£x with someone often enough. So it will hurt when you do have s£x.

5. You are going gray

Although you would anticipate graying hair on your head as you age, it can nevertheless be shocking to discover your first gray hair elsewhere. The same process that causes your head hair to gray also causes your pubic hair to age. Your hair (on top and below) loses its color as you age because the pigment cells inside each hair follicle die and stop generating the substance melanin. Your pubic hair goes gray or white as melanin synthesis decreases.
