The monarch died at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Friday.

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, had a premonition of his death, an aide of the palace has claimed.

The aide said, “My father has gone to meet his forefathers. Atanda (Alaafin) went to play with his forefathers. He is not dead.

He was the third to ascend the throne from the Alowolodu Ruling House and ruled for 52 years – making him the longest-reigning traditional ruler in Oyo town.

A former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, Stated this in a terse statement he personally signed and obtained by our correspondent in Bauchi State on Saturday.

Lamido said that consultation was still ongoing with all northern presidential aspirants in the PDP in order to come out with a national consensus acceptable to all and an acrimony-free national convention.

“The position of the Northern Elders is not only injurious to the North but equally injurious to the Northern Aspirants!”.
