Top 10 Leading Nigerian Politicians That Had Declared Their Presidential Ambitio

As the 2023 presidential election draws closer and it is slated to hold on February 18, 2023. The 2023 Presidency has seen some political gurus have come out openly to declare their intentions to run for the position.

The election has been on every Nigerian desk as everyone seeks to can’t wait to get a change of government. The current President Muhammadu Buhari has said that he is not interested in whoever would succeed him come the 2023 election.

2023 Presidency; in no order here is the list of top politicians that have declared their intentions to vie for the position. Some individuals are still expected to make their intention known before the election.

1.  Rochas Okorocha (APC)

He is not strange to the presidential contest as he has run for the position 3 times. He was a former Imo state and now a senator representing Imo West at the Senate.

2. Bola Ahmed Tinubu

He is one of the individuals to declare their intention early for the position. He was once a governor of Lagos and is currently the National Leader of the All Progressive Party(APC).

3. David Umahi (APC)

Umahi who recently defected from the PDP to the APC has also informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his ambition. He said he is not threatened by anyone in the party as the election comes closer.

4. Dele Momodu (PDP)

A media mogul and publisher of Ovation magazine. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain who officially returned to the party in October 2021, made his intention known in January 2022.

5. Bala Muhammed (PDP)

He is the current Governor of Bauchi and was also once a senator between 2007 and 2010. He declared his intention to the public earlier this year.

6. Peter Obi(PDP)

Vice presidential candidate in the 2019 Nigerian general election under the People’s Democratic Party and has once again declared for 2023 presidency.

7. Aminu Tambuwal (PDP)

The current chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ forum. He is also the current Governor of Sokoto State. He made his intention known after a stakeholder’s meeting in Sokoto State.

8. Kingsley Moghalu (ADC)

The former Central Bank of Nigeria Deputy Governor in a post on his Twitter account noted that he is not waiting for any fake call before he declares his intention to contest the 2023 presidential election.

9. Orji Uzor Kalu (APC)

After declaring his ambition, Kalu stated that the presidential ambition of the National leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu is not a threat to his presidential bid.

10. Atiku Abubakar(PDP)

He was served as a vice President between 1999 and 2007. He had contested 4 times and lost.

11. Bukola Saraki(PDP)

He was the 13th President of the Senate of Nigeria from 2015 to 2019. This is the first time he is aspiring for the post of the presidency of Nigeria.

12. Nyesom wike(PDP)

He is a lawyer and the current governor of River State. He made his intention declared to the public in early 2022.
