Ohanaeze gives Obiano ultimatum

Apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, OYC, has reacted angrily to the fracas involving Amb. Bianca Ojukwu, widow of late Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu and wife of former Anambra Governor, Ebelechukwu Obiano. DAILY POST had reported that Mrs. Obiano had confronted Ojukwu’s wife at the inauguration of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo as Anambra Governor, leading to a physical combat. Reacting to the incident, Ohanaeze youths in a statement by its President-General, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike warned the Obiano family to apologize to the entire Ndigbo without delay. While describing Mrs. Obiano’s action as a big insult on the entire Igbo race, the OYC said it would not sit and watch anyone denigrate Ojukwu’s family. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has finally arrested Rochas Okorocha, an All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential aspirant. The anti-graft agency had earlier invaded the residence of the former Imo State governor in an attempt to arrest him. APC cancels NEC meeting

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cancelled the proposed emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 17. The decision to cancel the meeting may not be unconnected to the  letter written by President Muhammadu Buhari , which directed Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni to return as the chairman of the caretaker committee. Recall that the acting chairman of the Caretaker Committee and the Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Bello, had summoned the emergency meeting. The emergency meeting was supposed to ratify decisions taken in respect of the forthcoming national convention of the party. The National Secretary of the party, Sen. Nigerian students have described the traumatic situation and humiliation they went through in the hands of Ukrainian officials while trying to escape the country following the Russian invasion of the country. 24-year-old Adetomiwa Adeniyi and 17-year-old Amamchim Steve-Ajufo, both recounted a similar situation to Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC. They were both studying medicine in Ukraine before the war started and they have since returned to Nigeria after fleeing the country. ASUU declares indefinite strike, plans increased media engagement

ASUU President, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke The Academic Staff Union of Universities has declared a total and indefinite strike. The decision was taken at a meeting of the union’s National Executive Council held on Sunday in Abuja. The PUNCH  reports that the union started its ongoing strike on February 14, 2022. The strike is in protest against the government’s failure to release revitalisation funds for universities, failure to release the white paper report of the visitation panel to universities and the failure to deploy the University Transparency Accountability System for the payment of salaries and allowances of lecturers.
