Gunmen bomb Ohanaeze President’s home in Imo

-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Prof George Obiozor located in Awo- Omamma in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State has been bombed by unknown gunmen.

It was gathered that the suspects used Improvised Explosives Devices, IED and petrol bombs to raze the building.

Eyewitnesses from the Awo-Omamma community claim the unknown gunmen drove into the compound about 6:15am, Saturday, shot indiscriminately for over 15 minutes before setting the building ablaze, DAILY POST reports.

Confirming the incident, Micheal Abattam, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, said “officially there was no report of lives lost.”

APC cancels NEC meeting

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cancelled the proposed emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 17. The decision to cancel the meeting may not be unconnected to the  letter written by President Muhammadu Buhari , which directed Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni to return as the chairman of the caretaker committee. Recall that the acting chairman of the Caretaker Committee and the Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Bello, had summoned the emergency meeting. ASUU declares indefinite strike, plans increased media engagement

ASUU President, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke The Academic Staff Union of Universities has declared a total and indefinite strike. The decision was taken at a meeting of the union’s National Executive Council held on Sunday in Abuja. The PUNCH  reports that the union started its ongoing strike on February 14, 2022. The strike is in protest against the government’s failure to release revitalisation funds for universities, failure to release the white paper report of the visitation panel to universities and the failure to deploy the University Transparency Accountability System for the payment of salaries and allowances of lecturers. Arsenal legend, Martin Keown, has warned that his former club could still lose out on finishing in the top four places. The Gunners bounced back from their 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in midweek to beat Aston Villa 1-0 at Villa Park on Saturday.
