The White Witches Association of Nigeria, WWAN, has cautioned Vice President Yemi Osinbajo against running for the Presidency in 2023. Okhue disclosed that Osinbajo would conclude the mission God sent him on May 29, 2023.
In recent years, Oscar-winning actor Will Smith has been recognized more for his accomplishments in film than in music. Smith recently swept the 2022 film awards, winning the Screen Actors Guild, BAFTA, and Oscar for his portrayal of Richard Williams, the father of Venus and Serena Willams , in " King Richard ." Over the years, the actor has built an acting resume that spans multiple decades and genres, from comedies like "Men in Black" and "Bad Boyz" to intense dramas like "Ali" and "The Pursuit of Happiness." There is no denying Smith's incredible acting career, but he has an accomplished music career as well. Before he was Will in " The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air ," Smith was known in the 1980s for rapping alongside DJ Jazzy Jeff as part of the fittingly named duo, DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince. HOME NEWS POLITICS METRO SPORT ENTERTAINMENT OPINION EDUCATION HEALTH INTERVIEW DAILY POST GHANA CONNECT WITH US Election observers for the Osun gubernatorial election holding on Saturday have been urged not to jeopardise the electoral process by providing fake reports in the polling unit they will be assigned to monitor. This appeal formed part of the message of Faith Nwadishi, the Executive Director of the Center for Transparency Advocacy, (CTA) at a training session for election observers in Osogbo on Thursday. Nwadishi, who pointed out that observers need not be biased, submitted that any observer with an affiliation to political parties could not be objective, but would make reports in favour of the party they belonged to. She noted that the role of election observers could not be overstated, as they worked with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that free, fair and credible elections are held. “Observers’ reports have helped INEC to improv...
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Wednesday, lamented that its leader, Nnamdi Kanu was passing through unimaginable torture in detention. IPOB claimed that the Nigerian government, through the Department of State Services, DSS, had subjected Kanu to torture and humiliation since his rendition from Kenya. Emma Powerful, spokesman of the group, lamented that the DSS had refused Kanu from changing clothes. A statement by Powerful urged the United Nations, UN, and the Human Rights Watch to prevail on the Nigerian government to release Kanu, unconditionally. He said: “The global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), wish to put the whole world on notice that our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is currently under severe torture and humiliation in the hands of Nigeria Government at the Abuja headquarters of the Department of Security Services, DSS, where he is under custody. “We condemn this torture and the flagrant abuse of his human rights by DSS. The Associated Press Ukrainian soldiers walk next to destroyed Russian... Read More KYIV, Ukraine -- Russian troops left the heavily contaminated Chernobyl nuclear site early Friday after returning control to the Ukrainians, authorities said, as eastern parts of the country braced for renewed attacks and Russians blocked another aid mission to the besieged port city of Mariupol. Ukraine’s state power company, Energoatom, said the pullout at Chernobyl came after soldiers received “significant doses” of radiation from digging trenches in the forest in the exclusion zone around the closed plant. But there was no independent confirmation of that. The exchange of control happened amid growing indications the Kremlin is using talk of de-escalation in Ukraine as cover to regroup, resupply its forces and redeploy them for a stepped-up offensive in the eastern part of the country. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russian withdrawals from the north and center of the country we...
Credit: Unsplash/CC0 Public Domain New research finds that longer and warmer autumns make it less likely that green-veined white butterflies will survive winter to emerge in spring. The findings are published in the British Ecological Society journal, Functional Ecology . warmer and longer autumn conditions lost more weight and used more energy than those exposed to milder conditions. Although the butterflies didn't die immediately under the more elevated conditions, the researchers found that those that experienced them were less likely to survive to adulthood the following spring. Dr. Matthew Nielsen at the University of Oulu, who conducted the research at Stockholm University, said: "Climate change is making autumns warmer and last longer, and it was this specific combination of conditions that had the greatest impact on the butterflies in our study. We show that stressful conditions experienced at one time of year can have lasting negative consequences at other tim...
Buhari Under Fire Over Failure To Arrest Gumi photo credit: daily post The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, on Saturday, lambasted the Federal Government and all the security agencies, accusing them of complicit silence and collective failure to arrest controversial Islamic cleric and bandit-sympathiser, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, in spite of his alleged many unguarded and alleged criminal statements. HURIWA in a statement by its National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, said it is not surprising that while the state-controlled Department of State Services go after objective critics of government’s unpopular policies, especially Christians like the Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Hassan Kukah; the late former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Obadiah Mailafia; the regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has spared Gumi despite his inflammatory comments. The group noted that Gumi, at a recent event in Abuja organised by the...
